TPV Waterstop — Earth Shield® Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV) Waterstops (the vulcanized version of a Thermoplastic Elastomeric Rubber [TPER]) are free from harmful chemicals like plasticizers and heavy metals commonly found in other polymers, making them safer for both the environment and human health. TPV is also lighter than other rubbers, helping reduce transportation emissions and overall environmental impact. As a thermoplastic, TPV can be repeatedly melted and reshaped without losing its essential properties, making it a sustainable material easily recyclable and reusable in new products. TPV also has the most extended lifespan in structural applications, which minimizes the need for replacements and reduces material consumption over time. TPV's eco-friendly nature, longevity, and recyclability contribute to long-term sustainability.
PVC Waterstop — Recycling Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) reduces the demand for raw materials like fossil fuels used in its production and minimizes the amount of waste sent to landfills. However, due to their inherent toxicity, PVC's use of plasticizers (phthalates) and fillers presents an environmental challenge. Earth Shield® PVC Waterstop is less toxic (non-hazardous phthalates) and NSF 61 and California Prop 65 certified. Earth Shield+® PVC Waterstop is made from renewed materials, is still toxin-reduced, and is available upon request.
SS Waterstop — Earth Shield® Stainless Steel Waterstop is 100% recyclable and can be reused to create new products without losing their original properties, reducing the need for raw material extraction and minimizing environmental impact. Its durability and corrosion resistance ensure a long, sustainable lifespan with minimal maintenance, lowering the demand for replacements and conserving resources over time. Additionally, stainless steel is non-toxic and does not leach harmful chemicals into the environment. Since it can be recycled indefinitely, it supports sustainability by reducing the demand for virgin materials such as iron, nickel, and chromium, conserving natural resources, and lessening the environmental impacts of mining.
MCR Waterstop — Earth Shield® Modified Chloroprene Rubber (MCR) is highly durable and has a long lifespan, reducing resource consumption over time. Our formulation is designed to minimize or eliminate the use of harmful substances, such as bisphenol A (BPA) or other modifiers, making it a more environmentally friendly option compared to other elastomeric products that rely heavily on such additives. With ongoing advancements in production and recycling, its environmental impact can be further reduced, contributing to long-term sustainability.
